There’s a sight for very sore eyes
beyond the windowsill.
As the light decays and day dies,
it crawls through the fir tree’s frills.
Go and bring her out,
you’ve got some time to kill.
Sweet solitude is ever-fleeting,
so take your chance before the day is done;
sunset has just begun.
Take a breath, before you abscond.
Hold on tight to this ephemeron:
a taste of life beyond.
So take her now, before the
sun sets.
Go right now, before they find you there–
you’ve got some time to spare.
Live like there’s no one home.
Set free your heart to roam,
to go and enjoy the
sun
before it sets.
There we sit, beneath the oak tree,
kept away from any prying eyes.
Ruby throat in my periphery;
its racing heart is keeping time with mine.
For once, I feel aligned.
Awe-inspiring, captivating,
I fall in place just as her eyes meet mine,
our gazes intertwine.
Now, grab ahold–make sure to grasp tight.
Restless joys, and vexing, vague delights;
echoes of yesternight.
So, love her now, before the
Sun sets.
The day is shorter than the night is long,
so play that old swan song.
Soon, you will have outgrown
all that your heart bemoans.
Don’t let’s bereave the
Sun
before it sets.
