That light in your eyes is finally alive; it’s something inside us, darling. That heat in the air, that ringing in my ears, is its elemental warning. Equilibrium, persistent perigee, no Roche—just eternal tether. The sun may go out, the moon may lose its light— the least of the storms we’ve weathered. Our immortal dance, a cosmic unity. One day we’ll collide, together. Go on and stake your claim amidst the stars alight in the night sky. I’ll meet you there, beside the moons. When my light goes out, my tired regolith will remain around you, waiting. Until that day comes, we’ll float in endless space, two bodies in eldritch Nothing. And as you orbit there beside the daughter of the Earth and Sky, I’ll look for you among the glow of all the stars. The hunter of the Moon will soon devour you. Come Ragnarök, we’ll meet our fate, among the wolves. And as we depart into the darkest night, beyond the event horizon, you’ll still hold my hand as we traverse the unknown: the weight of a star collapsing. And when we take our place between the stars aligned in the night sky, you’ll hold me there, and we will dance among the moons. And when we orbit there beside the daughter of the Earth and Sky, your light will dominate the fire of every sun. The satellites of Time will soon devour us, come Ragnarök. We’ll make our home among the wolves.
