There’s a thrumming in my chest tonight
born of
moonstone ore and
apatite.
Will you hold me through the tremors, now,
and uphold your silent, sacred vow?
My midnight
confidante, my
lunar glow,
how can you stand to keep my heart in tow?
A mass so dense, a
singularity,
and yet you choose to bear its weight with me.
So, tell me, please:
will you take me there
into the unknown?
Into those black, foreboding stars
where nature collapsed?
Where time itself is absent?
Will we embark
into that dark horizon?
Clouds depart revealing cosmic prose,
and the starshine leaves my heart exposed.
There’s a word for feelings so profound,
but my vocal cords can’t form its sound.
Ceremonials betrayed, the forest is professing:
“Come hither, silently, the
sturgeon moon bestows its blessing.”
How quaint and cordial is its glow tonight, honey,
and in its face, a humble witness to our folly.
Nature’s silence watches from afar,
adding ‘
voyeur’ to it repertoire.
On solid ground, beneath that gnarled tree,
I’ll not despair of what I ask of thee.
In this calm, explicit grace, as eyes, unbidden, watched me,
we found a sacred truth that tells my heart: “The
Sky is falling.”
There’s a trembling in your prayers, tonight, darling,
and only us to hear their whispers, ’til the morning.
There’s a smile as the
Moon resigns;
patient eyes alight and crystalline.
Will you follow me through
eigengrau
as far into my dreams as God allows?
This lucid daydream we have built upon foundations steady,
at last solidified, with Heaven’s graceful aid abetting.
There’s a
stumbling in my step tonight, baby,
the clammy, clamoring carouser you have made me.
